Checking Out Seeds
- No card required for check out
- Limit of 12 seed packets per person per year
- Patrons must bring seed packets to the front desk and fill out the checkout log/form
- No returns required
- Always free with no fees
- Pick out your seed envelopes from the old card catalog in the library.

- Drawers are sorted by type with each variety labeled on the packet itself.
- You can find a complete list of what we currently have on our website
- Limit of 12 seed packets per person per year

- Bring the seeds to the front desk
- Fill out a line on the seed checkout sheet, one line per seed type

- The checkout sheet asks for name, date, seed type, and number of packets

- Take home and grow!

- If you can, please consider letting some of your plants go to seed so you can save them and bring them back to the library for next year! You can find information on saving seeds at the seed library (brochure format) or on our website.

- Patented seeds
- GMO seeds
- Unprocessed plant parts containing seeds
- Ex. whole dried corn cobs, unhusked beans, seed pods, etc.
- Live plants (roots, cuttings, corms, etc)
- except at seed swap events

- Hybrid/F1 seeds
- Commercially sold seeds (as long as they are not chemically treated, GMO, or patent protected)

Seed donations can be brought to the front desk or put in a waterproof container/bag in the book drop with relevant information attached including

- Seed type/variety
- Date seed saved
- OPTIONAL: suggested planting date/instructions, frost hardiness, seed origin location, any other notes

At The Norris Seed library, we try our best to ensure the quality of our seed using best practices in inventory care and labeling. Nonetheless, seeds are alive and people using the seed library have varying degrees of skill in saving seeds. You should know that you might experience low germination rates or receive seeds that were not properly labeled. This is only one or our many services offered through the Norris Community Library, and we do the best we can with the time and resources we have.
