This is a free event, but per-registration is required! https://norriscommunitylibrary.com/norris-chalk-walk
What It Is: The Chalk Walk is a day-long event where artists of all ages are invited to illustrate a square in the sidewalk with chalk pastels! The community will then have the opportunity to view the artwork and vote for their favorites from each category! Anyone may sign up for free online or in person at the Norris Community Library while spots are available.
Parking: We recommend that you park in the new parking spaces behind Norris Middle School. Parking on the main street will be available in the morning, but closed off in the afternoon for the 75th Birthday event.
Supplies Provided: Water bottles, 1 box of chalk
Recommended Supplies: Extra chalk, extra water and snacks, brushes, felt, gloves, knee pads, paper towels, tape
Banned Supplies: We are using this space temporarily so paint, fixatives, and other permanent supplies will not be allowed.
Subject Matter: This is a family event, so please keep the theme of your artwork light and friendly. Banned topics include: nudity, foul language, excessive violence, and politically charged materials. Thank you for being kind and respectful to the community and other artists.
Instructions for the Day-Of: The event will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please arrive at the Norris Bus Circle between 8:00-9:00 AM to sign in and pickup your name tag, your supplies, and your place assignment. Spaces will be marked ahead of time with artists sorted into 4 different categories: Elementary, Middle/High, Adult, Family/Group/Team. Once you have found your spot, you may set up your supplies and lay down tape, but may not start with chalk until the event begins. There will be announcements over the course of the event, so listen closely.
