The Friends of the Betty Anne Jolly Norris Community Library were recently awarded a $3000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation as part of its 2026 Youth Literacy Grant cycle. 

Youth Literacy Grants are awarded to “schools, public libraries, and nonprofit organizations who help K-12 students that are below grade level or having trouble reading”. Grant funding is provided to assist in:

  • Implementing new or expanding existing literacy programs
  • Purchasing new technology or equipment to support literacy initiatives
  • Purchasing books, materials, or software for literacy programs

The grant awarded to the Friends of the Norris Library will be used to purchase audio materials such as Wonderbooks, Yoto cards, and Playaway audiobooks for the Norris Community Library.  

This grant will expand on the library already existing collection of audio materials. To see what audio materials are already available for check out at the library please visit the library’s online catalog.

As part of the grant process, the library welcomes book reviews, written or spoken, to be submitted to the library. Let your librarian know how you liked your audiobook! This grant period runs through April 2nd, 2026.

The Friends of the Norris Community Library is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that works to support the Norris Community Library. Notable projects include the annual Summer Reading Program, indoor remodels 2023-2026, Movies on the Commons, and more.
