That’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone for another successful Summer Reading Program! This year’s Summer Reading theme was “Adventure Begins at Your Library”. We had 242 people register and so far over 1500 books read! For those of you who weren’t able to make it to the Summer Reading Finale, you still have time to turn in your reading logs until end of business on August 3rd. Remember, it’s any item read since the first registration date on May 18th. So, stop by the library to turn in your reading logs and pick up your prize! We will be doing our extra prize drawings after August 3rd. We’d also like to thank all the people who volunteered, did programs with us, and local area organizations that helped provide this year’s SRP prizes. As always, huge thanks to the Friends of the Norris Library who fund our summer program each year.

August means that the library is shaking up our events for the year. All your favorites like Story Time, Art Club, LEGO Club, and Tech Hour are staying the same, but this year we are adding some exciting new programs:

Pokemon Club: Every other Wednesday starting August 7th at 2:30pm come trade, battle, draw, and hang out with other Pokemon trainers at the library. Currently this program is all ages.

Swap Swaps: Once a month the library will host a swapping event for different themed materials. Anyone is welcome to participate. Some of these events will be drop in and some will be at scheduled times, so be sure to follow us on social media or the library website for the most up to date information. Our first Swap Swap is a Puzzle Swap on August 28th from 11:00 am-5:00pm. Bring your puzzles to swap with other puzzles from the whole community! (Please make sure your puzzles have all of their pieces.)

Food for Fines is Returning in September!

For the enitre month of September, bring in any nonpersihable, in date food item or unopened toiletry item to waive $1 off your library fines. Any extra items will go towards lowering the fines of other library card holders. All items will be donated to the Norris Area Food Pantry.

Here’s what’s we’re currently reading:

  • Kimberlee: Hidden Systems by Dan Nott
  • Kelsie: Warriors: The Prophecies Begin by Erin Hunter
  • Nina: Godkiller by Hannah Kaner
  • Aliah: Blue Nights by Joan Didion
