This student-focused event explores how pioneers turned wool into clothing and features hands-on activities and immersive learning experiences with Appalachian artisans\, educators\, and musicians!\nSheep Shearing is the centerpiece of an event that includes a host of pioneer demonstrations\, including sheep shearing\, sheep herding\, dollmaking\, broom-making\, coopering\, wood carving\, quilting\, beekeeping\, and dozens more. Interactive activities include spelling bees\, painting\, an animal meet-and-greet\, shape-note singing\, storytelling\, and more.\nThis event will also feature live bluegrass music\, on-site food options\, and a self-guided tour of the museum itself. Each Museum of Appalachia tour features three dozen historic log structures\, exhibit halls brimming with thousands of authentic Appalachian artifacts\, working gardens\, and farm animals.\nFor group and school reservations\, please email bookings@museumofappalachia.org.\nThis event is free for Museum members; no reservation is required.\nThis event was made possible due to support from the Tennessee Arts Commission.\n

Children are invited to trick-or-treat along this wooded trail for some spooky (but not too spooky) fun!\nThis event is free\, however all donations given at the event will benefit the Norris Recreation Commission.\nAll Halloween Trail participants that WILL BE TRICK-OR-TREATING should register for this event by selecting a time frame between 3:30PM and 5:40PM. Parents\, guardians\, or others attending the Event\, but NOT receiving candy\, do not need to register. This will ensure that we have sufficient candy\, parking spots and that participants are spaced out to avoid crowding on the trail. Time frames are limited and sold out quickly last year\, so be sure to reserve your tickets early. Children of all ages must be accompanied by an adult at all times on the trail.\nTRAIL INFORMATIONThis is a moderately wooded dirt trail located on a portion of the Norris Disc Golf Course. The terrain is moderately hilly with rocks and roots in places. It will be difficult\, if not impossible for strollers or wheelchairs to access. All participants should wear appropriate shoes. Costumes that impede the ability to walk safely on the trail should be avoided. In the event of rain prior or during the event\, the trail will become muddy. The trail can be casually completed in approximately 20 minutes. In addition\, there is a “shortcut” to reduce the length for younger participants.\nPARKINGParticipants may park behind Norris Middle School\, at Regions Bank\, or at the Norris Community Building. The Trail can be accessed from NMS or Regions by a short walk up Deer Ridge Drive and making a left on Chestnut Drive. 20 Chestnut Drive is the closest address to the Trail. The entrance is at the Community Tennis Courts\, NOT Eric Harold Park.
