This event will feature hot chocolate\, live folk music\, family-friendly crafts\, silent pie auctions\, story times with a ranger\, and a special appearance from SANTA!\nThis free holiday event will be Friday\, December 19th from 5:00pm to 8:30pm at the Lenoir Museum\, Grist Mill\, and Threshing Barn. Parking will be at the Lenoir Museum\, located at 2121 Norris Freeway\, with limited handicap accessible parking at the Rice Gristmill.\nWe will also be collecting non-perishable food donations for local Norris food banks. Please consider bringing a canned food item to support your local community.\nA silent pie auction will be held from 5:00pm to 7:30pm at the Crosby Threshing Barn! Support Norris Dam State Park and take home a tasty treat; it’s a win-win! You do NOT have to be present to win- winners will be announced or called at 7:30pm on the dot!\n(If you wish to donate a pie for this auction\, please email hailee.huffstetler@tn.gov)\nKiddos can meet at the bonfire pit in front of the Threshing Barn at 5:30pm\, 6:30pm\, and 7:30pm to “Read with a Ranger” where one of our Park Rangers will read aloud a Christmas story. This student-focused event explores how pioneers turned wool into clothing and features hands-on activities and immersive learning experiences with Appalachian artisans\, educators\, and musicians!\nSheep Shearing is the centerpiece of an event that includes a host of pioneer demonstrations\, including sheep shearing\, sheep herding\, dollmaking\, broom-making\, coopering\, wood carving\, quilting\, beekeeping\, and dozens more. Interactive activities include spelling bees\, painting\, an animal meet-and-greet\, shape-note singing\, storytelling\, and more.\nThis event will also feature live bluegrass music\, on-site food options\, and a self-guided tour of the museum itself. Each Museum of Appalachia tour features three dozen historic log structures\, exhibit halls brimming with thousands of authentic Appalachian artifacts\, working gardens\, and farm animals.\nFor group and school reservations\, please email bookings@museumofappalachia.org.\nThis event is free for Museum members; no reservation is required.\nThis event was made possible due to support from the Tennessee Arts Commission.\n
